Lauren Conrad Look For Less

Hey guys! Sorry I have been MIA for so long. I knew that would happen! Hubs got home from some training so I have been super lazy just spending time with him and the baby! Sorry about that!!

So today I am going to do a look for less entry. I know its Thursday but I have the time to do a blog now so I better use that time!

The look this week is from Celebrity Style Guide again and is Lauren Conrad. I was not a huge fan of The Hills. All that crazy drama just kind of got to me. Not to mention Heidi and Spencer. *shudders* But I love Lauren's style. Relaxed yet always some element of what is trendy.

Here is her look! I am loving animal print right now that's for sure! So lets break it down. Her shirt is C Wonder and retails for $128. Jeans are BDG and retail for $78. Lauren loves her some Chanel bags! This one is 4000 big ones. Not the kind of money I have to spend on a bag!

So let's see what we can find for a whole heck of a lot cheaper, shall we?

I found the blouse at here. It is $21! I think it does the job really well! The jeans are just simple. I am sure you all have a pair of dark skinnies in your closet. I would go with black but you could always go with a dark blue as well. I am a big fan of the way that Bullhead jeans fit me so here is the link to a black pair for $44.50.  I found a look a like bag at a fraction of the cost! It is from Aldo and you can find it here for $55. Now I don't know about you but that is a waaaaay better price!! To finish the outfit just throw on a pair of black flats and you are good to go!

I hope that you liked this week's look. Again, I am sorry for being MIA!! I am going to try harder I promise!!

Rachel Bilson~Look for less

I love Rachel Bilson's style. Its boho meets rocker. In my eyes she can do no wrong!

This week I have chosen a look of hers that I found on Celebrity Style Guide

I love how this look is so polished. She looks great. The top she is wearing is Theyskens' Theory. You can find it here for $295. Not a great price if you ask me! Her jeans are Goldsign, and you can find them here for $179.90. And that's on sale!

Here is the top I found at Forever 21. I think it is a pretty good match! It is $17.80 and can be found here.

Now if it was me I would just use a pair of medium wash jeans that I already have and cuff them, but here are a few options for jeans.

American Eagle~ $39.95
Express~ $79.90
Target~ $22.99

Top this look off with your favorite black blazer and heels and you are set. I would use a skinny belt on the top just to add a little definition to the waist.  I think this is a great look that really you only need to buy the top for assuming you have the other basics in your closet! Hope you enjoyed this week's look!

P.S. Sorry for missing last Friday and Sunday! I had company and it was more important to spend time with them!! <3

XOXO Gossip Girl

OK I am not afraid to admit that I love Gossip Girl. I am totally behind of course but I still love it. I started watching it for the fashion but got pulled in by the drama of it all. So don't be surprised if you see some Looks For Less based on the show. :)

This week we are doing a Blair (played by Leighton Meester) look. I love her classy style. Some of the stuff she wears I couldn't pull off but it is beautiful none the less!

Here Blair is wearing a Milly dress that you can find here. It retails for $454. The blazer is Alice + Olivia. I couldn't find the exact one but the ones I found range from $300 to $500. ( The picture and designer info was found on Celebrity Style Guide.

This dress is pretty close to the original. The metallic color is not as noticable but it is still very pretty. This dress also has a fuller skirt. There is not black accent on the waist either. If you wanted you could add a black belt. In my opinion if you wanted that black on the waist I would say buy some ribbon. A belt might be too heavy on this pretty dress. The look alike dress is only $92.

I couldn't find a blazer is that amazing silver/grey combo that she has on. I am seriously in love with that jacket! I found a few that I do think would work well with the dress and match that metallic on metallic feel.

The first one is from Forever 21. Love that store. It is $34.50. I would for sure wear it open and not with the hook closed.

This one is also from Forever 21. It might be a little out there for some people but I happen to love it. In fact I might buy it. This one is $32.50.

This last one is more expensive than the other two together but I thought it was worth mentioning. Tweed is huge this fall and this blazer would look great with this dress. It is from Mango and is $120.

You really couldn't go wrong with just pairing this dress with a plain black blazer either! Maybe pin on a really sparkly broach to the lapel and you are good to go. I would go with black heels to finish out the look.

So depending on the blazer you went with my look would range from $124.5 to $212. That is less than the Milly dress or the Alice + Oliva dress would be by themselves!

I hope you like this week's Look For Less!!

Honey Spiced Glazed Chicken

Hello all! This next recipe is a once a weeker at our house. Most of the time I get an "I don't care" when I ask my husband what he wants for dinner. This is the only thing he actually asks for. He loves it. I love it. Whats more to love?

I found this on Pinterest. The link takes you to Nutmeg Nanny

You will need:

1 package boneless skinless chicken thighs
1 teaspoon kosher salt (I just use regular table salt)
1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper (Again I just use the table kind)
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons paprika (All I have is smoked paprika so I use that)
2 teaspoons garlic powder (The first time I made this I was all out of garlic powder so I didn't use it and now I just forget to put it in.)
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Mix spices together and set aside

Mix honey and vinegar together and set aside

Un-tuck chicken thighs so they are flat (I put them on a baking sheet lined with foil to prevent sticking) Cover both sides with seasoning and keep flat.

Nutmeg Nanny says to put them under the broiler on low for 5-7 min on one side and then flip and cook 5-7 min on the other side. Add the honey mixture and make sure the chicken is nice and basted. Stick under the broiler for a few more min until the honey starts to thicken up and glaze. She advises that it may smoke a bit but it is completely normal.

Now--she also says if you have a gas stove were the broiler is at the bottom you can bake the chicken at 400 degrees for 15-20 min. This is what I do even though we don't have a gas stove. For some reason broilers freak me out. Not sure why, but they do. So I always bake mine and just add the honey mixture right away.

Also, the first time we had this I kept all the measurements of the spices the way the recipe states. We thought it was too hot for us. So we cut the spices by half and liked it so much better!!

I have also thought about grilling these bad boys. Now that we have a proper grill (thank you in-laws!) I think we will have to try it!

I usually serve this with butter noodles and green beans. But we also do mashed potatoes with them too :)

I hope you like this recipe as much as we do in my house!!

I love you because frame

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope everyone has awesome plans for the weekend!

I thought I would start my diy Fridays with just a small project. Very easy but one that I liked doing none the less.

I foubd this idea on Pinterest. I have seen several variations of it but I chose this one.

You will need:
A frame
Scrapbook paper or fabric
Sticker letters
Any other decorative things you like

Simply cut the paper or fabric to fit the frame and add the letters! Simple as that. I made one for me and my husband and added the flowers to the outside of the frame. I also made one for my son's room. I kept his simple just wanted it to match his colors!

I got my frames at Michaels for $4.00 and the scrapbook paper was $.50 each. The letters were about $1.99. Pretty cheap little project.

I try to write on them as much as possible. P can't read yet but I read it to him. :)

I am thinking of making another one to put by the door that says 'Don't forget' because I always seem to leave something in the house when I go to leave!!

Hope you get inspired to write some love notes of your own!!

Nikki Reed in D&G~Look for Less

Here is Nikki in Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2008 dress and Jerome C. Rousseau heels. (picture and info found on The Fashion Spot

So since the dress is from 2008 I couldn't really find it and the price but searching around I found several D&G dresses that range from $1,000 to $6,500! Not really what your average girl can spend on a dress! Now Jerome's pumps are about $500.

For those of us who don't have a never ending bank account (or stylist that lends us clothes) I found a few options that may not be exactly the same but are good enough for me!!

This first dress doesn't have the sleeves but it has that large photograph element that the D&G dress has. I must say that I absolutly love this dress! And at $89.99 it is a steal compared to the original dress!!

The next dress has the sleeves and is in the same color family as the original dress. I also like this dress but not sure I could pull off the light color. This one is even better at $69.99!

Now for the important part! Nude pumps are easy enough to find. You want a good brand though that won't end up hurting your feet! I personally love how Nine West feels so I went with these pumps at $69!

So with my looks you are spending $158.99 or $138.99 depending on what dress you choose! Way better than the original!!

I hope you enjoyed this week of fashion!!

P.S. I couldn't figure out how to put the pictures in the blog so I just had to go with the links. Sorry :)

Chicken Tacos

OK so I know that Sunday is cooking day but since I am starting on Tuesday I figure I should make up for it! This next recipe is one that I found on Pinterest but the link from there sends you to Budget Savvy Diva

Chicken Tacos

1 1/2-2 lbs chicken breast
1 can Rotel (Heat level is up to you)
1 packet taco seasoning (I use the chicken taco seasoning)

Mix all ingredients into a crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours.

Shred chicken. Stir and serve.

Now I usually try and cook it for 5 hours just because I like to pick the middle time. I am going to be honest with you and say that shredding is the worst part but believe me they are worth it!!

I usually do mine up with refried beans, nacho cheese sauce and guac but any toppings that you love on tacos will do!! I have also just put it on some chips and had nachos!

My husband says these are as good as any restaurant and we have a friend that requests this every time they come over for dinner so I would say it is a winner!!

Hope you enjoy these as much as we do!!
